Wow! What great responses we’ve gotten on this crochet along (CAL)!! I am so thrilled to see the abundance of interest. If this is your first time visiting, welcome! Please check out the original announcement here – it contains some basic information about this CAL. And if you have not seen the introduction video by Ester of It’s All in a Nutshell, you’ve got to go check it out!
What Will It Look Like?
I am soooo excited to show you my CAL sample in its entirety! This (exchange the center with your favorite block) is what we will be working on together starting on August 9, 2015!
I think one of the things that makes this CAL very special is it incorporates YOUR favorite block in the center. You pick your center block and we will crochet along around that center to make a giant granny square (or rectangle if you prefer). I chose Tropical Delight as my center (you can read more about my center block here). The video tutorial is now available by Esther of It’s All in a Nutshell.
There is already much chatter on the CAL – Crochet A Long FB group and Around-the-Bases CAL group on Ravelry on which center blocks to choose – so very fun and exciting!
I have prepared a separate page with more information on center blocks here.

Check out the beautiful samples that my wonderfully talented testers have created here.
Done with Your Center?
Show us your center block on the Around-the-Bases CAL event page on FB CAL – Crochet A Long group and/or this discussion thread on Ravelry! (I learned this about Ravelry this week – to upload a photo for free in a discussion thread on Ravelry, you have to have the photo saved as your project. Click on your account, click “projects” at the right top corner, and click on the “add project” button.)
Can’t wait to see everyone’s beautiful center block choices!!
Thank you so much for sharing, your and colours are amazing 😍

Can be as small or as big as you’d like. Only stitch count needs to be multiples of 6 minus 2 per side

You can just follow the blog here as the patterns come out each week starting Aug 9. If you are on FB, CAL – Crochet A Long group is hosting the CAL and you can see a lot of people’s center block pictures, questions answered, etc. Ravelry Around-the-Bases CAL group is another good community. Glad you found us!
