Please read through all the instructions before starting. This is the week 6 of the 16-week CAL. The patterns for the first 5 innings/weeks can be found:
PDF print button as well as links to the video tutorial, UK term pattern, and Dutch translation can be found at the bottom of this page.
Examples: 72, 80, 84, 92, 96, 104, 108, 116, 120, 128, 132, 140, 144, 152, 156, 164, 168, etc. per side
6th innning consists of 3 rows (Rows 24 – 26) and will add a total of 6 stitches per side.
back post stitches – I used to find back post stitches a little hard on my hands but my wonderful Dutch testers taught me that they are much easier if you work from the reverse side as front post stitches. So, you flip your afghan over and make front post stitches facing the wrong (back) side of the afghan. (But please note that the pattern below is from facing the front)
My Tropical Garden Sample Colors:
Row 24 (will add 2 st per side):
Watch your tension on Rows 25 and 26, not to make them too tight. If your tension tends to be tight, you may want to go up a hook size or two. However, if your tension is okay, stay with the same size hook. At the end of Rows 25 and 26 (and throughout the CAL), your afghan should lay relatively flat without being pulled in or rippling.
Row 25 (will add 2 st per side):
Row 26 (will add 2 st per side):
Total # of stitches added for Week 6 = 6
Examples: 78, 86, 90, 98, 102, 110, 114, 122, 126, 134, 138, 146, 150, 158, 162, 170, 174. etc. per side
This is a good week to block your ATB CAL, if you haven’t done so recently. Check out this great tutorial on how to wet block byTamara Kelly of Moogly. You can also google “steam block”.
Next week, we will make 3 x 1 cable stitches.
