Pattern written in American crochet terms by a right-handed crocheter

Abbreviations:

  • st = stitch
  • sc = single crochet
  • hdc = half double crochet
  • dc = double crochet
  • slst = slip stitch
  • ch = chain
  • yo = yarn over
  • sp = space

7th Inning – 3×1 Cable Stitch

3 x 1 cross stitchThe 7th inning starts with {multiples of 4 plus 2} stitches per side.

Examples: 78, 86, 90, 98, 102, 110, 114, 122, 126, 134, 138, 146, 150, 158, 162, 170, 174. etc. per side

We will make 3 sets of 2 rows (total of 6 rows, Rows 27 – 32) and add a total of 16 stitches per side.

Watch your tension on single stitch (sc) rows (Rows 27, 29, and 31).

3 x 1 Cable Stitches – The cable stitches are made by skipping the first st, making dc’s in the next 3 st’s, and then reaching over and making a long dc in the first skipped st. The 4th stitch, the one that you go back and make in the first st you skipped, should be made in front of the 3 dc’s and be as long as the width of the 3 dc’s.

Colors – Two rows make up a set so the single stitch (sc) row and the proceeding cable stitch row look best when worked in a same color. However, as with the rest of the afghan, you can enjoy as many or few colors as you would like.
