Last week, Esther of It’s All in a Nutshell released her first ever crochet design, Stephan, which was named after her first born son. And this week, she is introducing us to her second design, Vincent, named after her second son.
This is the 4th of the Friends Around the World CAL – the first anniversary CAL by the international Facebook crochet community, CAL – Crochet A Long. The group is very active and is a great place for crocheters of all levels to support each other. For a short-cut to all the patterns for the Friends around the World CAL, you might enjoy visiting their blog.
I found Esther’s Vincent easy yet fun to follow. I really don’t have any tips for this square except that you should read the instructions before starting. You guessed it – I didn’t at first and was confused about where to put dc2tog’s on Round 5. On Round 6, 8, and 10, except for the first and last dc’s, all dc’s fall on the dc2tog’s from the previous round.
I made mine with Scheepjes Colour Crafter in Urk with a 4.5 mm. It measured about 9 inches across after Round 9. This is about the size I am shooting for with my double knit (DK) yarn, so I skipped Rounds 10 and 11. If you are using worsted weight yarn, your square should be about 12 inches after Round 11.
I cannot wait to see who the next designer is for the CAL!
