About Me, ATB, etc.

MeHowdy!  My name is ChiChi.  I am originally from Tokyo, Japan but now call Texas, USA my home.  I love all kinds of craft but especially enjoy playing with keito, which means yarn in Japanese.  I learned to crochet when I was 7 from my aunt who was a crochet and knitting instructor.  Growing up, she used to crochet/knit clothes for me and my sister.  She would then frog them down the following year and make something else.  It was a very economical way to give loving to growing kids!  I now crochet to relax and especially enjoy playing with colorful keito.  Hope you enjoy the Around-the-Bases CAL, which was made possible by generous support of wonderful testers from around the word. Please meet them here!

Design disclaimer: The pattern for the CAL is written by ChiChi Allen (Please note the CAL does NOT include patterns for center blocks). However, the stitches in this pattern are not original but rather a collection of stitches I’ve learned over the years. To the best of my knowledge, I do not know of any stitch in this pattern that has a distinguished “original designer/creator”. However, if there exists such an original designer for any stitch in the pattern, please contact me as I would like to ask for permission for use and give due credit.

Center Block Credit: For my samples, I have used Tropical Delight and Sophie’s Garden as my center blocks with permissions from both Mellie (who has permissions to post the pattern from the original publisher, Herrschener’s) and Dedri (creator of Sophie’s Garden).

Pattern Use: Please enjoy projects you make with this pattern in any way you wish. Please also feel free to share the link to this pattern by linking it back to this blog (www.keitopalette.wordpress.com). However, please do not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part or the whole of the pattern including the pictures (other than by a link) without my consent.

Support Groups:

This CAL is officially hosted by CAL – Crochet A Long group on FB.  This is a great friendly group with members who are positive and always willing to help others.  Very active and frequently moderated.  Although the CAL is now over, there are always members on the group who are willing to help!

Around-the-Bases CAL group on Ravelry was created specific to this CAL and was a great place to see the discussions and participants’ beautiful creations all in one place.  This group is no longer active but previous posts, pictures, etc. can still be viewed there.

Scheepjes Yarn:

The featured sample for the CAL was created with Tropical Delight using Cotton 8.  I am crocheting along with everyone with a square I made with Wink’s Picot Mandala in the middle using Linen Soft.  Both Cotton 8 and Linen Soft are made by Scheepjeswol and I purchased them from Deramores.

I have since received sample yarn from Scheepjes and started another block with 4 Kata blocks using Stone Washed.  It looks like I will be purchasing more to complete this CAL, but wanted to give a conflict of interest notice, as at least a portion of this third afghan will be made by the yarn provided by the company.

    Hi Chi Chi,
Thanks so much for the Around The Bases Crochet Along. I have never done anything like that before. I came into it quite late, but I am currently on the 13th inning. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE your Blue Enchanted Garden plus ATB. I know you said there will be a paid pattern out in December, do you have any idea when it will be coming out? I am anxious to get the pattern, especially for the Enchanted Garden. Thanks again.
    Pam
