5th Inning Team A or Team B

For the 5th inning, we are breaking up into 2 “teams”.  Please be sure to find the correct pattern for your team.

Here is my “Enchanted Garden Plus” ATB afghan through the 5th inning.  5th Inning Blues

I am really loving how this beauty is turning out.  And those of you who are curious, here is a little info on my ATB.

Center Block:  Enchanted Garden by Courtney Laub – this paid pattern combines the two most beautiful patterns: Sophie’s Garden by Dedri Uys and Crocodile Flower by Joyce Lewis.  My Enchanted Garden was 12 inches (@30 cm) wide.  I blocked it after this part but have not blocked since.

Center Block “Plus” part – I added 5 rows of granny stitches (3 dc clusters) for the 4 sides but did not stitch in corners (so 4 independent sides coming out of 4 sides).  Then I attached granny squares on the corners.  My “Enchanted Garden Plus” center block started out at 16.5 inches (@42 cm) wide.

Yarn: DMC Natura Just Cotton – I really love the feel and look of this yarn but it is a hard yarn to work with.  It is just like DMC floss (think cross stitch threads) and splits badly.  I am on 3rd skein of white and 2nd on the rest of the colors.  I need to order more yarn but I am not sure if I will use this yarn again once this project is over.  I am actually thinking of making another one just like this using Stylecraft Special DK or Scheepjes Merino Soft.  I think shades of pink or purple may be fun and my daughter would love the shades of orange…

Colors: ibiza, blue layette, blue jeans, star light, azur

Hook:  D – 3.25 mm, my favorite size hook (I am a “pencil” holder and love Clover Armour hooks)

Current size:  27.5 inches (@70 cm).

And she is a Team B!

I have a question can you do Inning 5 with-out doing Inning 4 and still have it come out right?

I can’t promise it will come out right…. You will first have to get your stitch count to either multiples of 4 or multiples of 4 plus 2 but this should not be too difficult. The part I am not sure about is both 3rd and 5th innings tend to “flare” and may make the afghan ripplie/wavy. The 4th inning is placed strategically to make it tighten. I generally do not recommend altering stitches but it’s your afghan so you can do whatever you like at your own risk!

I ordered the pattern for the center – but how do I order the entire afghan pattern?

I made the 4 side panels first and then attached the granny squares with a needle.

I didn’t follow a pattern. Just a basic granny square.
